New Landscape Architect Cultivates Campus Charm One of the most commonly admired qualities of the University of Colorado at Boulder is its beautiful campus. Since 1984, several Facilities Management staff have worked hard to maintain its renowned appearance. FROM THE CHANCELLOR Changing Our Culture Several investigations of allegations surrounding our football program are wrapping up, and it's time for us to focus on lessons learned from these experiences. AWARDS AND KUDOS Leasa Weimer Leasa Weimer, assistant director of student programs for the UMC, has been selected as a member of the Institute for Leadership Education and Development planning team. I-LEAD is an Association of College Unions International annual student leadership program that emphasizes community development. Weimer will assist in their July program at Indiana University. Karon Johnson Karon Johnson, director of the Office of Financial Aid, is retiring from the university on May 31 after 20 years of service. Karon was associate director for the American Indian Science and Engineering Society for five years and worked in financial aid for 15 years as community service coordinator, scholarship counselor, and director. She is an avid gardener and community volunteer and plans to spend time with her grandchildren and pursue a second master's degree. DID YOU KNOW? Birthday Celebration Glenn Miller's 100th birthday anniversary celebration culminates during the weekend of June 4-5. The commemoration includes a performance by the Tamana Girls Glenn Miller Band, a high school big band from Japan, and a Gala Dinner Dance featuring the Glenn Miller Orchestra. CU-Boulder Events Calendar The CU-Boulder official Events Calendar at www.colorado.edu/eventscalendar is getting a new look! The calendar is being revamped to better represent the incredible array of events happening on our campus. An easy, online entry form will be available at the end of May.
