IN THE SPOTLIGHT New Publication highlights CU-Boulder research and graduate education By Jon Leslie, Publications and Creative Services
The Graduate School and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research will soon release Just the Facts: Research and Graduate Education, a new publication that examines the breadth of CU-Boulder research, its integration with graduate education on the Boulder campus and its impacts on Colorado and the world. "This new publication in the Just the Facts series allows the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of the Graduate School to showcase the astonishing breadth of research and creative work taking place across the many disciplines in which our faculty and graduate students work," said John Stevenson, associate dean of the Graduate School. "Everyone knows about our Nobel Prizes, but here we have an excellent overview of just how much exciting and groundbreaking work is taking place on the Boulder campus." Designed to complement the university's existing Just the Facts brochure, the publication contains brief summaries about CU-Boulder researchers and graduate students, sponsored research funding and faculty awards, scientific and creative discoveries and the tangible outcomes of the resulting new knowledge on the larger public. "Graduate education and the campus's research mission are inseparable," said Stevenson. "Graduate students are an essential component of a great deal of the research success our faculty have achieved, but they are also learning to be the research and creative leaders of the future. The benefits of this creative ferment are felt across campus, but they also have an impact in Boulder, in Colorado and beyond as new ideas, new technologies and new ways of perceiving the world improve everyone's quality of life." Just the Facts: Research and Graduate Education will be used primarily to raise awareness of the Graduate School and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and to assist in the recruitment of prospective graduate students and faculty members.
